American mentality has lead to building a wall between them and Mexico to keep the workers out. They are getting the support of their public by relying on their terrorist scare. Migrant workers and terrorists are becoming one in the minds of many of their people. America thinks they can just fence themselves in and abuse the world and they will be safe. But all this does is push their reputation for evil and oppression into the forefront and sends that message. America has come so far from the country that use to be looked up to, now to a country that has to be protected from, even for its own citizens. A very dangerous place.

You don't need intellectual social political analysis to understand about the US what almost all Mexicans do and almost all 'Americans', as they erroneously call themselves, don't.
I talked a couple hours ago to a friend of many years who is from a small and poor native pueblo in the southern state of Oaxaca. He sells baskets on the streets here that his family makes there. Neither he nor any in his family has ever been or entertain any wishes to go the US. However, since customers are mostly gringo tourists, he often brings up that country with me in questioning how one says this or that in English. This time there was no question. Instead he commented on the wall, one more insulting topic on the minds of many Mexicans. He didn't have to ask but already knew and expressed what was already my opinion.
The goofy wall won't stop anyone and its motivation is making money. It would appear on the surface its reason is throwing an election sop to US racism, but that grease that lubricates the wheels of its commerce is about making money too. So understands a poor native basket maker with no formal higher education from Oaxaca where today his people are barricading streets in opposition to its government.
Technological development has caused the world to change so much in increasing movement of people and universal spread of information. There is no wall that can slow that except refusal to see beyond. The self constructed barrier to comprehending that is the real wall around the United States.
That is evident in its people, all of them, from those in leadership to MacDonald patrons; living in mansions, suburbs, and ghettos; writing; directing, and announcing what they think is news; It is seen in admitted racists of the Minute men as the play homemade soldier and also among academic bigots disguising themselves as neo conservatives and those hiding from it by adopting "libertarian" as pretentious hooray for me and fuck everyone else moniker.
Neither are those from there proclaiming themselves radical leftists immune as can be seen on the blogs we visit and read shouts of all that is wrong with their US. While they maintain a usually unstated and often hidden and perhaps even unrealized goal of saving the nation from what others but never them have made it, they exhibit no comprehension its problem is not who made it that or even what it is, but simply that it and they exist on the wrong side.
Well then if i read correctly even the little im able to do in my way is not good enuff .We are doomed for others to blindly judge us as our goverment has done so many times to so many people .God forgive us all The END

America is a sovereign nation just like Mexico. As such, it has over the last 200+ years evolved into a nation which is governed by a rule of law and order just like Mexico. It is the wish of the citizens of this country that our borders be secured but for the last 30 years or so our government leaders have allowed the orderly system of legal immigration to devolve into chaos. Why? So that large agricultural, manufacturing and service industries will have a plentiful supply of cheap labor. Both Mexican and US leadership's lack of border enforcement has been, and is now, criminal in nature.
I was an immigrant. I came here legally after submitting papers and waiting for 3 years.
Do you mind it if you are waiting in line and someone steps in front of you? How about if it is a never ending stream of people stepping in front of you? Is this fair?
Sweet Sonshine, I had the same reading, posted a question of it, and then deleted it on grounds that it was too personal and divisive. Thank you for saying it in such a way that if I had thought of your good words, my comment would still be there.
Roman, People migrate in many different ways, the paper trail is one of them, and on the long time invitation of plenty in America is another. Come and get it, however you can has been the attitude and not such an easy one to stop. America has always let in a certain amount with papers and a certain amount without. Securing the border and terrorism should have nothing to do with it, but that is the new drive behind it. America should be thankful it gets its much needed workers, however they managed to get there. There is a new hysteria that has caught on over the workers due to the nation fearing so much for themselves. My personal opinion is that the border situation has become a real money maker for so many and a way to exhibit power, it really has little to do with the poor worker seeking a job. Thank you for your view, I know many feel your way about it.
I don't believe it is a matter of whether or not one is doing enough. There are no prizes for those who might think they are. No one is - anywhere, as long as there is suffering in the world - anywhere. There will always be calls for more. They were heard long before we arrived. They will beg for more long after we are gone. The best we can do is devote the remainder of our lives to utilizing as able our various means to advance in the direction of our hopes. The only valid judgement of individual manner and extent is the one we each personally pass upon ourselves. My own: I am the enemy for that which I could do but do not.
The wall in Berlin was designed to keep people in, imprisoned in "the workers' paradise"; the walls on the Mexican border of the US and on the border of the Palestinian Territories are designed to keep people out. Is this difference trivial, do you think?
Isn't it to keep people of the US in? I mean in secluded shelter from the "Evil" World outside and their sinful Ideas? To keep them in the McDonalds Hollywood Paris Hilton Paradise they're living in?
