Summit of the Peoples
The 3rd Summit of the Peoples, with the presence of hundreds of organizations and social movements from the American hemisphere, begins today in Mar de Plata, Argentina with the purpose of coordinating and seeking alternatives to continue confronting imperialist plans led by the United States of America. Students, workers, artists, religious leaders, representatives of indigenous communities, women, jurists and human rights activists are all part of the multi-faceted movement holding this event for the third time; the first two editions were in Santiago de Chile (1998) and Quebec (2001). watching it on tv atm. the summit of the peoples seems to be massive. But i dont know if its a good thing. Is it a real debate on how to change things, or is it the way they found to keep people away from the streets, where they can really protest against this summit and the criminal bush?
